Interior Trends for Autumn 2023

Say goodbye to those dull white walls! This autumn is all about a lush mix of colours, textures, and plants. We're increasingly daring to paint our walls and opt for warm colour combinations. The result is an interior with a personal touch that exudes coziness. Of course, flowers are a must. We see the urban jungle expanding with blooming plants. Orchids are incredibly suitable for this trend. These versatile plants are available in various trendy species and colours, and with their long blooming period, they provide months of extra colour in your interior.

Colourful & Versatile

When you think of an orchid, you probably envision the white Phalaenopsis, which is the most common variety in garden centres. But did you know that there are more than 25,000 species of orchids? They grow all around the world, from the rainforests of South America to the alpine meadows of the Himalayas. Although orchids are often considered finicky, they actually thrive in almost any environment with sufficient light, including your cosy living room. The Phalaenopsis comes in various variations, from plants with meandering branches creating a lush shape to flowers with a mix of colours, as seen in the Mimesis Orchid.

The Perfect Pot for Your Orchid

A beautiful plant deserves a trendy pot. To create the perfect orchid pot, elho collaborated with The Orchid Growers, who share our passion for orchids. They tested and approved the design of our pots. Together, we created a pot made with love for nature. A pot that ensures your orchid never has wet feet, provides an optimal climate for your plant, and accommodates most orchid nursery pots. The vibes fold orchid is made from 100% recycled plastic, produced using wind energy, and is fully recyclable. With the vibes fold orchid, caring for your orchids becomes a breeze.

How to Care for an Orchid: 5 Care Tips

We want you to enjoy the enchanting flowers of your orchid for as long as possible. Proper care is essential because with the right approach, your plant can bloom for 3 to 6 months. Here are some tips to get you started:

  1. Choose a matching outer pot for your orchid: Orchids often feel right at home in the inner pot from the store. By placing the plant, including the inner pot, directly in an indoor decorative pot, the plant experiences no stress and will quickly come into full bloom. The size of the vibes fold orchid is specially designed to accommodate most orchid nursery pots, eliminating the need for extra orchid bark.

  2. Place your orchid in the right spot: Orchids, like people, prefer an average temperature – not too hot, not too cold. Keep your orchid comfortably at room temperature, around 15 to 25°C. Provide them with adequate light, but if the sun becomes too intense (hello, April to August), a little shade won't hurt. If your leaves start turning yellow, they may be getting too much sun. And if buds or leaves fall, they crave more light.

  3. Watering your orchid: Give your orchid a weekly mini-spa treatment – soak its roots for about 10 minutes. It's like a retreat for the roots. Remember that orchids don't appreciate prolonged wet feet, so don't leave them in the water for too long. The vibes fold orchid has a raised bottom that allows your plant to drain well. Excess water accumulates in a space beneath the raised bottom, creating an optimal environment for the roots.

  4. Feeding your orchid: Orchids thrive on airy, nutrient-poor orchid potting mix, also known as bark. So, provide your orchid with monthly food for optimal blooming pleasure.

  5. Pruning your orchid: When your orchid has finished blooming, you can stimulate new blooms by giving it a trim. Cut the spent branches just above the second eye, counted from the bottom. Then place your plant in a slightly cooler spot with adequate light. Water the plant once every two weeks, and you'll notice new branches and buds forming. Return your orchid to its usual spot and follow the above care tips.

An Orchid Makes the Perfect Gift

An orchid is not just a centrepiece in your own interior; it's also the perfect gift. Did you know that orchids symbolize beauty, luxury, strength, and fertility? When you gift an orchid, you're essentially telling the recipient, "You are beautiful." Combine it with a beautiful pot, and you have the perfect present!
