Plant information

General

Let me introduce you to the Peperomia obtusifolia. Also known Baby Rubber Plant or Pepper Face. We'll stick with Baby Rubber Plant. The plant is related to the pepper and was originally found in the Amazon region in places where there is sufficient heat and shade. The Baby Rubber Plant requires little attention – making it an ideal companion.

Care

To get the most out of your Baby Rubber Plant, give the plant warm water. The plant likes rain water the most. This is because rain water contains less lime than tap water. It's also recommended that you submerge the plant every so often. If you make sure that the soil doesn't get too wet and that water doesn't collect between the leaves, you can avoid root rot.

Placing

Peperomia obtusifolia likes being in a bright spot as long as the plant is not exposed to harsh sunlight for long periods. Direct sunlight will cause the leaves to discolour and eventually die. Sunlight is no problem during the winter months. During the summer you can place the Baby Rubber Plant outdoors.

Propogation

Repotting the Peperomia obtusifolia  is not necessary – unless you feel like it, of course. It's also easy to make cuttings from the plant. Cultivate Baby Rubber Plants with leaf and stem cuttings.
