Plant information

General

Imagine a warm, late afternoon in the summer, and all you want is a bowl of fresh, plump strawberries. Now imagine you don’t have to go all the way to the supermarket to get them, because the strawberries are right there in your garden! The fragaria ‘elsanta’, also known as the strawberry plant, is the answer to all your fresh summer fruit prayers. The plant does need a little attention, but every second you spend caring for this plant is absolutely worth it. And don’t worry about bringing your plant inside for the winter, this hardy fruit plant can survive a snowstorm or two.

Care

Strawberry plants like their soil to be moist, but not soaking wet. Water your plant twice or three times a week during the summer. In dry periods, it’s best to check on your plant every day to see if the soil is still moist enough. Cocosoil is a great little helper, as it will stay moist far longer than regular soil. And don’t forget to add fertiliser to your water once a week.

Placing

Place your strawberry plant in a sunny spot with little to no wind. You can leave the plant outside during the winter, unless there are prolonged periods of severe frost. In that case, place your plant in a shed until the temperatures rise again.

Propogation

Repot your plant into a larger pot directly after purchasing.
