Plant information

General

This lovely, elegant calla used to be Georgia O’Keeffe’s favourite plant. The American artist used the plant as a symbol in many of her paintings. The plant is originally from South Africa, and used to be considered a fairly boring, old-fashioned houseplant. Recently, the calla made a spectacular comeback thanks to her neat, long shapes and lush flowers, especially when combined with a modern or unique flower pot. During the summer, your calla can also be placed outside, cheering up your garden of balcony.

Care

Water your calla once a week, and add some fertiliser every now and then. If the leaves start dripping, you’ve given your plant too much water.

Placing

Place the calla in a light, warm spot without direct sunlight. If you want to keep your calla outdoors, make sure to avoid direct sunlight to keep the leaves from burning.

Propogation

Repot the plant at the start of spring with a healthy dose of fresh soil. If your plant hasn’t grown too much, you can repot using the same plant pot as before. If your plant has had a growth spurt, make sure you use a new, bigger planter.
